Bangladesh lies on the Bay of Bengal to the east of India. Much of the land is low-lying and prone to flooding, especially when impacted by tropical cyclones. Many of the rivers of Bangladesh arise in India and may be subject to water sharing arrangements such as the Ganga Water Treaty.[1]
