Nepal is a mountainous country which lies to the north of India in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is affected by the Indian monsoon. Nepal has vast undeveloped Hydropower potential. Flooding and soil erosion originating in Nepal profoundly affects India as it did in the 2008 floods on the Kosi River.
