The Rio Grande Basin Roundtable, created under the provisions of the Colorado Water for the 21st Century Act is composed of representatives of the cities, counties, and water interests of the Rio Grande Basin in Colorado, the upper reaches of the Rio Grande in the San Luis Valley and the surrounding mountains.

Its duties are to organize itself, elect representatives to the Interbasin Compact Committee, inventory existing water resources within the Basin, inventory water needs and conduct public education.

The Roundtable has selected Steve Vandiver of Alamosa representing the Rio Grande Water Conservancy District and Ray Wright of Monte Vista the representative of Rio Grande County as representatives to the Interbasin Compact Committee with Mike Gibson, of the San Luis Valley Water Conservancy District as an alternate. At the January meeting an educational and outreach subcommittee was formed.
